What’s Happening with myCred?
The WordPress team has asked us to change how our license system works. But don’t worry – myCred will still work powerfully like before, and we’re here to help you through this change.
Moving Our License System
The first big change is where our license system lives:
As per the guidance of the WordPress team, we have moved our license system from myCred Core to myCred premium addons.
What does this mean for you? Well, instead of the license being in the main myCred plugin, it will now be in each of the extra features (what we always call and know as “premium addons”) that you might use with myCred.
Update Your Premium Addons Soon
Here’s an important step you need to take:
We have added an updated license system in all our
. You need to update them before November 6, 2024, to smoothly transition to the new license system automatically.
This means you should go to your WordPress dashboard and update any myCred premium addons you have. It’s best to do this before November 6, 2024. If you do, everything will switch over to the new system without any trouble.
On November 6, 2024, we will release a new update for the main myCred plugin, version 2.7.5. In this update, the license system will be removed from the core plugin.
If you’ve already updated your premium addons, everything will work smoothly, and you’ll continue receiving updates and enjoying myCred without any issues.
What If You Don’t Update myCred Premium Addons?
If you fail to update the premium addons before updating to myCred v2.7.5, the license system will not work for you, and plugin updates will be stopped.
This means if you update the core myCred plugin to version 2.7.5 without updating your premium addons first, then your license may not be recognized, and you won’t get any further updates for a while.
In short, the plugin’s functionality will not be affected even if you miss the process of updating your license.
There’s Always a Fix
If you updated to myCred 2.7.5 before updating your core plugin, we’ve got you covered.
In this case, you just need to update your premium addons manually (one time). After the update, you will successfully migrate to the new license system, and licenses and updates will work as they did previously.
If you find yourself in this situation, just go to your WordPress dashboard and manually update each myCred premium addon you have. Once you do this, everything will start working normally again.
How to Manually Update myCred Premium Addons
If you forget to update your addons before the new myCred version, here’s how you can update them manually:
Login to mycred.me
Once you’re logged in go to account page, Click “My Downloads” tab in the sidebar
Download the plugin
Upload the zip folder of the plugin on your site
Click “Install” and then activate it.
This is a one-time process, and once it’s done, everything will be back to normal, with licenses and updates working smoothly as they did before.
